A History of Guy

Guy joined the family during the 1990s and, as far as I remember, he cost £9 at a furniture store. He had a happy time at our home, especially when a playmate entered the scene - being one Bethany, born in December 1995.

He became very close to Bethany, looking forward to her twice weekly visits to his home whilst Bethany's mum was at work. He would wait eagerly at the window anxious for her arrival early in the morning. He even accompanied her during car journeys to the playground in Pirbright but, being a bit nervous of the swings, roundabout and slide, prefered to stay in the car.

There was, however, one occasion when he thought Bethany had tired of his friendship, that was when she bit his nose in the car during one journey. That certainly did not endear him to her; but, being Guy, he soon forgave her and she promised not to do it again. Even when Bethany's sister and cousins came on the scene she did not neglect him and always included him in gameas and photo shots. On other occasions he was invited for sleepovers with Bethany's favourite, Pooh Bear, but declined. He made it clear that he would rather stay in his own home (probably thinking back to the time that his nose was bitten).

In time Guy met a young female gorilla named Gaby. She was rescued from a car boot sale and love developed between them which resulted in their eventually tying the knot and getting married. Not long after that Gaby's brother, Gus, fell on hard times and the couple agreed to take him in.

Imagine the excitement though, when Guy and Gaby had a baby girl who was named Tess. She was born on 22nd October 2001 and made her star appearance on an iced fruit cake.

Although the family has grown to four, they still live with us and enjoy the time when Bethany, her sister and cousins pop in to see them.

Come that day when their current carer is no longer around to look after them, Bethany has promised to adopt them and give them the care and love they deserve.
